8. Moving to a New State, Welcoming a Newborn Baby, Saying Goodbye to Friends, and Finding Inner Peace with Wife, Mom of Four, and Artist – Ashley Ward

Ashley Ward, wife of 14 years, mom to four kids (13, 10, 6, and 2 months) shares openly about the struggle of finding inner peace through huge life transitions of moving to a new state and leaving behind friends and community, having a baby, and trying to manage the feelings of her family and herself.

  • Find and make home wherever you are

  • Determine the quality of life that you desire

  • Identify what you can be excited about in a life transition

  • Be sad together with your kids when they’re navigating their own feelings

  • Act like a team; try not to take the tension out on each other

  • Don’t expect to maintain your prior normal routine

  • Release expectations of yourself

  • Give energy to yourself and your needs

  • Identify what provides internal peace for you

  • Don’t go through difficult times or transition on your own; ask for help; lean on your community

Ashley and I talk about some wonderful resources:
